Inclusion Programme

At the beginning of 2007, Hollywood Manor (Church in Society) made an award to St John's in recognition of the inclusive nature of the youth work done.

This has been used in the following Pilot areas:

  • Folkestone Academy, Steve Smith (Youth 2000) and Tim Fudge (St John's) head up a team which works with young people who's exclusion has lasted longer than 5 days. Based at St John's and Life Church, the strategy is for students to work hard and be brought back to a point where they are able to go back into Full Time education. The agreement is that whilst we provide a wide range of activities, these are based around a full day's work and we deliberately target areas of weakness (ie discipline, stamina and academic subjects). For this reason the sessions are full time in line with the school day.

  • The Change Project, set as a project between Pent Valley Technical College and the Change Team. Working with students at St Saviour's Centre
  • Individual support with Maths, for a young person in our youth club who is part time in education
